Attendance Policy
We encourage students to schedule appointments after the school day ends. Attendance is vital to student learning, and active participation. Students with excellent attendance develop a deep sense of belonging in one’s school that leads to increased self-esteem, participation, and academic success.

Absence Reporting Process
If a student is tardy or absent, please send a note, with the student, from the legal parent or guardian that includes a phone number for parent/guardian verification. Clearly write the student’s first and last name, reason for, date and time of tardy and/or absence.
OR
Parents have the option to phone in an excuse for their student’s absence. Please call the attendance office and leave a message. Phone messages will be confirmed with parent.
Tardy Excuses
Valid acceptable reasons for excused tardiness include court, medical appointments, funerals, and illness. No other reason for tardiness will be accepted.
Students who are tardy without a valid reason will automatically be assigned detention from 3:15-3:45PM, ON THAT SAME DAY. Students who fail to serve detention after school that day, for any reason, will be issued two detentions. Students who fail to serve two detentions THE FOLLOWING TWO DAYS will have Saturday School or be suspended.
Absences
Absences are only cleared and excused for the following reasons: court, medical appointments, funerals, and illness. All other reasons for absence, with a note or not, will not be considered an excused absence.
Excessive tardies, truancies, and or absences will result in your student and family being referred to the Student Attendance Review Team (SART) for contract placement, assignment of Saturday School, and possibly alternative school placement if attendance fails to improve.
Early Dismissals
For a student to be eligible to receive an early dismissal, the following must occur: the school must receive a written request for an early dismissal from parent/guardian or a parent/guardian must come in to pick up the student. Notes can be turned into the attendance office before school or during lunch. Phoning in an early dismissal will no longer be accepted.
*Notes submitted for early dismissal will be subject to verification by school prior to releasing the student.*
Monitoring your student’s attendance
If you would like to receive information regarding your student's attendance at R.H.S., you can either come in to the attendance office to obtain a copy of your student’s attendance or one can be mailed home to you. Requests can be made in person or over the phone.
